12:44 am - My TX trip thus far Wow. I'm having a fantastic time getting reacquainted with my TX family. I got in at 10:30pm Wednesday night... just late enough so that by the time I got to the hotel, Brent's bachelor party had moved on, with the exception of Jason who was waiting for stragglers. So I headed out to the Tipperary, our old haunt (well their CURRENT haunt) and spent a while catching up with Jason. Of course, the night ended up with a trip to CAFE BRAZIL (tick)! YEA! I think I got back to the hotel around 2am?
Of course, baby nephew Joseph (SO CUTE!) was staying my parents hotel room that night, as was I, since his dad was out at the bachelor party. Needless to say Joe woke up at 5 am. But in my jetlagged head it was 11am so I got up. :) That day was spent getting my nails done, which they just don't know how to do properly in Ireland, drinking JAMBA JUICE (tick) and practicing the songs for the wedding. The rehearsal at the Arboretum was HOOOOOT, but the rehearsal dinner was WELL worth it. Good choice Brent and Erin! I think it was there at Cappuccino's that I quietly dubbed Brent 'groomzilla.' :)
I talked Kevin into a side trip to Target after the dinner so I could buy flipflops for my aching feet before we went to see Brent and Erin's house in Garland. Brent's dog Badger, whom I haven't seen in 3 years, looks AMAZING. Erin has really got them both eating well! :)
Wedding day arrives, and so did Kim and Stan! Yea! They help me pick up all I need to do Brent's hair (yes, it's that long) for the wedding and get last minute accoutraments. The wedding was gorgeous and I was able to hide my tears behind my giant black sunglasses... which I wore all through my songs, handing out programs and water, making sure everyone signed the guestbook and running the sound. Erin looked beautiful and Brent very handsome, even through the sweat.
I got to re-meet Liam this weekend as well. God is he a cute kid! I'm hoping to get to spend some more time with him while I'm here. The reception was fantastic, at Trinity Hall. The owner was born in Dublin and I was able to chat with him a bit. I gave Brent advice through song, "when you're good to momma..." and Kevin drunk-sang "Copacabana" which got everyone dancing. Nephew Joe stayed up throughout it all, charming everyone with his huge blue eyes and giant smile.
After the reception, Heather, Jason, Kim F., Kim M., Stan and I found our way to the "Across the Street Bar" where Heather managed to get the bar keeper/owner to stay open late for us. Kim M. got to do some freestyle dancing while Kim F. shared her multiple Singapore Slings with the porcelain gods. Good times. :)
Saturday, my family went off to Grapevine to see my dad's cousin Jody, her husband Gary (who some of you might remember from his being pulled onstage at FutureVision 2000 at the Bath House AGES ago) and my cousin Valerie. We went to a fantastic restaurant where I got to drink MARGARITAS (tick) and eat CHILE CON QUESO (tick tick). I was so tired by the time we got back, I think I just passed out.
Sunday, everyone left me. No, that's not true. My parents, brother, nephew, Kevin, Kim and Stan left me. Misty and Scot had lunch with me and then headed up to Frisco to the Mullick home (in her poor, broken air conditioning car) for my bridal shower. It was SO great seeing so many people I haven't seen in almost 4 years. I wish I had had more time to talk to each person individually. Rashna made me a bunnie cake of red velvet which had grey matter where the bunnie brain was. Yea Rashna! I wish Rob could have been there to meet everyone. He would have LOVED it.
After the party, Misty and Scot took me to Plano where I'm now staying for the rest of the week. My friend from MISD, Jeanne has taken me in... and even is letting me use her car! Her and her husband Bob are great people and I'm so glad to get to catch up with her.
Today, I got to catch up with Rashna. She took me shopping at LANE BRYANT (tick) where I spent too much on clothes I can only use in Texas and on my honeymoon (yippie!). We had lunch at the shopping centre where I had corn dogs from SONIC (tick) and waffle fries from CHIK-Fil-a (tick). We met up with Vik later to see "Sex and the City." It's fantastic.
I've not gotten back to Jeanne and Bob's, where I decided I needed to process everything since a 5 am his time phone call to Rob probably wouldn't be so appreciate. :) I have to go to Arlington tomorrow to buy a pair of shoes that I HAVE to have for my wedding reception. You'll understand when you see them. And they only had them in my size in Arlington, thus the trek. I'm hoping to meet up with Jason and Liam, and if I'm lucky Kim too. I've pretty much got stuff planned for the rest of my evenings here. Breakfasts and lunches are relatively free, and I'm hoping to not fill that time with much more shopping as I do have plane tickets to honeymoon to buy.
I think it's time for bed now. Life is good.

09:49 am - Maybe only 3 months! It's all Mirp's fault. She got me back here by starting a BCIE group. So I might as well post.
I move to Dundalk on Monday. BUT! I just found out that we MAY have hired someone to start there in August, which means I'd only be there until then and not until December! Great news for not having to move fully, but it does mean I won't be saving €1500 a month in rent anymore. So it's a good and not so good thing.

02:48 pm - my dumb leg Walking back from Doyles to my flat last night, I completely did something to my calf muscle... it hurts SO bad! Where's my solpadene?!?! But on other news, the Faithless concert was fantastic and I danced like an ejit the entire time. The rain was perfect, in a way it added to the multisensory experience.
Today, I go off to Helen's Bay in the North with some friends, including Shela, a bookcrosser from Canada who's living in Dub for a year. BCIE folk met her at the literary pub crawl and we hit it off. I like making new friends! Current Mood: ex-freakin-hausted

Closest Book: By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept- by Paulo Coelho
He was no longer moving his hands; they simply rested on the man's shoulders. The ritual stopped as quickly as it had started. The padreturned and gave a conventional blessing, making the sign of the cross with his right hand.

03:19 pm - Wow it's been a while So I figured I needed to get back on here and catch up with everyone who's not blogging on myspace. As for me, my boss just had a meeting with a few members of the Progressive Democrats party and apparently we are in to meet with the Tanaiste! It won't be until at least September, but it sounds like they are actually interested in what we have to say about providing speech and language therapy to every child in Ireland who needs it. Sure it's a lofty goal but we can do it, so why not go for it? In fairness, I'm not holding my breath. This whole meeting could be GREAT news, but until the HSE hands us a check to hire new speech therapists, I'm going to keep on breathing my own natural way. Current Mood: hopeful
